Release day manufacturing – The Kronos release Prospect story

prospect manufacturing release day banner

Having once again involved myself in release day manufacturing even as a relatively experienced player and mass manufacturer I found myself schooled by more experienced release day manufacturers.

I started to install jobs about 10 minutes after the release went live caught slightly off guard by the early launch of Kronos, I knew from the off that I may be slightly behind but hoped my POS close to Jita would give me a distinct advantage when it came to shipping. Invention jobs in I went about my day with 12.5 hours until the invention jobs completed at 01:40 EVE time.

Having set my alarm clock to install the manufacturing jobs the second the invention jobs compelted I decided to get an early night. Unfortunately not feeling so sharp thanks to something not quite right with my takeaway the night before I was reluctant to get out of bed having struggled to get any sleep. I lost another 20 minutes getting my head off the pillow so 30 minutes down I battled on but by now it already proved unlikely that I would be the first to get to market. To make matters worse once my jobs were installed I discovered the landed in downtime losing me yet another 10 minutes on my delivery time, my 40 minute delay would guarantee I wouldn’t be the first to market.

With a manufacturing time of 9 hours 20 minutes I forgot about one important thing that I could have saved just over 22 minutes if I had used the Zainou ‘Beancounter’ Industry BX-804 implant which reduces manufacturing time by 4%. I’d lost an hour on my delivery time in total. Some more experienced players managed to perfect the whole delivery process delivering their manufacturing jobs an hour earlier than myself and getting the first Prospects to market about ten minutes before downtime hit at just over 300mil per unit with their first unit selling at 320mil at close to 300mil profit.

My first 8 units averaged 58.5mil per unit, but getting them to market quickly incurred a slightly increased 22.5mil build costs due to the cost of the decryptors used. Still I was happy with a relatively easy 288mil profit from the initial rush, less than the profit that the fastest individual made selling their first unit.

With the price quickly dropping in Jita and my next batch of 21 units coming out of the oven at 17:00 EVE time it’s still uncertain what the final profit will look like. Currently the prices are at 62.5mil sell orders and 30mil for buy orders. With a lot of other manufacturers getting involved too the market may be completely flooded within the space of the first few days dropping profits to a meagre 3-4mil per unit within a week.

It’s great to know no matter how long I play EVE or how much I learn about manufacturing there’s always going to be a better player out there beating me to the best profits. This is the true PvP nature of EVE at its finest. So often we only consider the destructive nature of player interactions it’s hard to forget that PvP applies at all levels including manufacturing and ensuring that you’re the one making the best profit.

First Barghest loss

barghest battleship loss mail banner

With the release of the new Mordus Legion faction ships comes the usual race to be the first to kill one. The Barghest only hit the market at around 18:00 EVE time and did so at 3bil, only a mere matter of hours later at 21:10 the first Barghest was lost. The in game kill report is reproduced below.

I reached out to all of the pilots involved for their side of the story, here is the response of Nisha Devi the Vindicator pilot on the killmail:

The corp and I were having a bit of relaxed pew in jita on the 4-4 (main station). I was suspect from hero repping a Gila that had war target problems in my Nestor for fun, and after a few minutes I got a random duel invite so I accept it and see its the new Mordus legion battleship and think theres no way he’s gonna fight in that.

I really didn’t want to waste my ammo just for it to dock, the Barghest pilot then sent Shiro a duel invite as well which confirmed my suspicions that he really isnt planning on fighting at all, so i go about ignoring him.

Meanwhile Shiro was trying to decide on what to try and kill it with and decided on the Myrm and goes out to agress it, with me being suspect and previously having about 6 battleships shooting my Nestor, I was hesititent to come out and agress with them still on the undock. My corp mates rallied and said they got me if I get blobbed, and undocked their remote rep ships. Shiro had already gone out and then she called out that the battleship had agressed, so with him shooting her and vice versa I undocked my vindi and my corp got their reps ready and I began firing on it.

To try and ensure it died I overheated my guns, with overheat my Vindi puts out 2k dps and Shiro’s mrym is pretty good as well so i’d estamate it was around 2.8k dps on it total. As Shiro had been shooting him a while his ASBs were already working through cap boosters so I think one of them ran out and during that reload his tank melted. There really was no recovery from that and then pop, the bs exploded, thankfully the officer neut didnt drop because the loot was all stolen by the usual Jita theives.

After a little a few high fives in teamspeak, one of our corp mates Be4st checked and told us we were the first to kill one, which brought a few more high fives on TS. With that we knew we had set our own little place in eve history.

Just goes to show, weither you live in null, low or high sec you never know when you’ll add your own piece of history to EVE.

Additionally Yuki Michi replied with the following response which goes to show he took the loss quite well:

–Poitot Defense Force Ministry of Defense–
==Official Press Release==

On the third day of the sixth month in the 2014th year of our glorious leader, a brave and noble PTDF pilot Yuki Michi was struck down in glorious battle against the oppressors and non-believers. The ferocity with which he fought have never before been seen in this universe or beyond. Brave warrior Yuki was sent to the den of godless heathens in their “secured” space of Jita by the Glorious Leader himself on a mission of critical importance to [REDACTED] the high sec fleet of [REDACTED]. With his goals accomplished and the enemy completely crushed, Brave Warrior Yuki then set about dualing all godless heathens directly on their home turf. Yuki Michi died a hero and sacrificed himself so that the PTDF can continue to thrive and prosper while keeping the glorious motherland of Poitot a free place for all.

When the news of the battle and success of Yuki Michi reached the Glorious Leader he shed a single tear and named this day Yuki Michi day, to be celebrated by all who fly under the PTDF flag. With the help of brave pilots like Yuki Michi, the Poitot Defense Force will continue to thrive and prosper.

Released by [REDACTED], Press Minister of the PTDF MOD
Approved by the Glorious Leader himself.

-=PTDF=- We fight to keep Poitot free

His response is repeated exactly as it was sent, which includes the redacted statements. Thanks go to both pilots for sending a detailed account of events.

Guristas Data Sequences – Not on market yet

With the launch of Kronos comes the Guristas Infiltration live event where players complete the new Contested Guristas Covert Research Facilities in order to unlock the higher tier besieged sites.

The loot from these has been confirmed as Guristas Data Sequences which are exchangeable in 5ZXX-K for the new Mordus Legion ship BPCs. The exchange rates for the Mordu’s Legion ships are:

  • Garmur (Frigate) – 1 run BPC – 75 Guristas Data Sequences
  • Orthrus (Cruiser) – 1 run BPC – 200 Guristas Data Sequences
  • Barghest (Battleship) – 1 run BPC – 700 Guristas Data Sequences

Unfortunately at this point in time the Guristas Data Sequences cannot be traded on the market which restricts players from selling them in Jita for others to redeem out in 0.0 this will likely stall the new ships from getting to market.

CCP Falcon confirmed that as of downtime tomorrow the Guristas Data Sequences will be market tradable opening up the opportunity to sell them which should bring more of the new Mordus Legion ships to market. We can probably expect the data sequences to sell in the region of 2-3mil for the first week eventually dropping to a price in the region of 0.75-1.5mil.

At the time of publishing the prices are as follows:

  • Garmur (Frigate) – 200mil buy order – 449mil sell orders
  • Orthrus (Cruiser) – 495mil buy order – No sell orders yet
  • Barghest (Battleship) – 1088mil buy order – No sell orders yet

The fact that the data sequences are missing from market is a small mistake on CCPs behalf but with it being resolved tomorrow it shouldn’t have too much of an impact.

Kronos release day market watch

EVE jump freighter industry

So it’s release day and downtime hits any minute, in a meer matter of hours New Eden will get its hands on the Kronos release and the usual release day rush to get the new items out of the door is soon to commence. We’re already starting to see some of the effects of this prices of base materials are higher and prices of advanced small ship assembly arrays increasing by almost 20%.

Through out the day I’ll be providing updates on the market madness and the rush to be first to market. Personally I’ve moved towards bulk Prospect manufacturing potentially taking it a little too far with materials for just over 400 ready to start production once invention jobs complete. To fully optimise the build time on the first batch I’m using labs for the invention, decryptors that provide the best PE value and advanced small ship assembly arrays to shave every second possible off of the build time.

Potentially I’m going to be over producing this release day and may struggle to make my ISK back in full. Depending on how fast the market crashes I’ll also be selling through bulk trade channels as a last resort. In the past I’ve always under delivered on release day nervous that my gamble wouldn’t pay off but in the case of the Prospect you really don’t have to invest much to flood the market so there was very little to lose in giving it a shot.

Short post for now as there is very little else I can add at this point but I’ll be sure to provide updates on everything from the new drone module to the prospect and latest additions to the New Eden Store. In a matter of a few days we should also start to get a good impression of the new low grade pirate implants drop rates, that is of course once players finish the yet to be announced Mordus Legion site challenge to unlock the difficult site with all of the rewards.

Update 1 – 14:00 EVE Time

So we’re now hitting the time where we expected Kronos to go live and CCP did a stellar job getting the release out not just on time but early. Already the first Omnidirectional tracking Enhancer I’s have hit the market at 5mil per unit, next to hit the market will be the T2 variant of the same module. Surprisingly there aren’t any buy orders up for these new modules yet.

The Prospect on the other hand is another story at this point we’ve got a single relatively reasonable 20mil buy order and a load of cheap low end 5mil buy orders. With build costs in the region of 20mil I would have expected a lot more but as the first invention jobs aren’t going to be completing until 02:00 tomorrow the traders have plenty of time to judge what level to put their buy orders in at going in early will only start a bidding war for the first units to hit the market.

Update 2 – 15:00 EVE Time

The most industrious of EVE players are already starting to make their money now the Omnidirectional Tracking Enhancer I price is holding steady at 5mil it doesn’t look like much is selling here. The T2 variant will still be in the process of invention.

Prospect buy orders are now starting to slowly increase with the first buy order at 40mil appearing in the Forge, by the time they actually hit market I wouldn’t be surprised to see this as high as 100mil per unit.

Also some information regarding the Mordus legion ships:

  • Garmur (Frigate) – 250mil buy order – 449mil sell orders
  • Orthrus (Cruiser) – 500mil buy order – No sell orders yet
  • Barghest (Battleship) – 1200mil buy order – No sell orders yet

At this point in time only the frigate will have had enough time to manufacture from BPCs, that is unless someone has purchased them through the LP store directly as a ship. We’re yet to see anything other than the Garmur hit market and with supply throttled due to the Guristas Data Sequences not being market tradable its unlikely that we’ll see much hit the market until after downtime tomorrow.

Update 3 – 16:45 EVE Time

Just a quick update with how things are changing the most noteworthy change is that the Orthrus has now hit the market.

Omnidirectional Tracking Enhancer I – 3mil sell orders – 200ISK buy orders
Omnidirectional Tracking Enhancer II – Not hit market yet – 2000ISK buy

Prices are still dropping quick fast for the T1 item which isn’t really surprising as it takes a matter of minutes to build.

Prospect – Not hit market yet – 50mil buy orders
Garmur – 299mil sell orders – 233mil buy orders
Orthrus – 800mil sell orders – 600mil buy orders
Barghest – Not hit market yet – 1200mil buy orders

As you can see the starting price of the Garmur is already starting to level off, this will still drop fast within the first week but it’s a good idea of what prices will be like in the short term. You will also notice that the first Orthrus cruiser hulls are starting to hit the market at 800mil initially they started a bit higher around 900mil but competition is quickly pushing prices down.

New Eden Store items:
Mens ‘Impact’ Jacket (Graphite) – 298mil sell orders – No buy orders
Abaddon Tash-Murkon Edition – 280mil sell orders – No buy orders
Hyperion Innerzone Shipping Edition – 600mil sell orders – No buy orders
Rokh Wiyrkomi Edition Blueprint – 500mil sell orders – No buy orders
Maelstrom Nefantar Edition – No sell orders – No buy orders

This is just a brief look at some of the 60 new items that have come to the New Eden Store as you can see buy orders simply don’t exist for this stuff yet with players being rather uniterested in it which isn’t surprising when there are more obvious things to play with on market.

Update 4 – 18:15 EVE Time

The big news is that the Barghest has just made it to market priced at 3bil. The buy orders are holding steady at 1.2bil.

The Orthrus price is leveling off with sell orders at 504mil and buy orders at 420mil. whilst the Garmur is currently at 242mil whilst buy orders are at 166mil.

The Omnidirectional tracking enhancer is now at 2.75mil and the T2 variant has just hit market at a traditionally extortionate 40mil. The NES vanity item prices aren’t really doing much at the moment and Prospect buy orders are holding steady at 50mil.

Update 5 – 20:00 EVE time

Quick update on the prices, they have now got to a point where things are starting to sell.

Prospect – No sell orders yet – 52mil buy order
Garmur – 275mil sell – 243mil buy order (157 traded)
Orthrus – 720mil sell – 55mil buy order (52 traded)
Barghurst – 3890mil sell – 1500mil buy (3 traded)
Omnidirectional tracking enghancer I – 2.5mil sell – 200ISK buy (146 traded)
Omnidirectional tracking enghancer I – 20mil sell – 50,000ISK buy (12 traded)
